Red Wine Sangria with Dehydrated Lemons & Oranges
Ingredients (Serves 6–8)
-
1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Shiraz work well)
-
½ cup brandy (optional but recommended)
-
2–3 tbsp honey or brown sugar
-
1 orange, sliced
-
½ lemon, sliced
-
4–6 dehydrated orange slices
-
4–6 dehydrated lemon slices
-
1 cup mixed berries (optional)
-
1 cinnamon stick (optional for warmth)
-
1–2 cups sparkling water or soda (to top)
-
Ice
-
Fresh mint for garnish (optional)
Method
-
Mix the base
In a large pitcher, combine red wine, brandy, and honey. Stir until sweetener dissolves. -
Add fruit & spice
Add fresh orange slices, lemon slices, berries, cinnamon stick, and your dehydrated citrus. -
Infuse
Refrigerate for at least 2–4 hours (overnight is even better).
The dehydrated citrus will slowly rehydrate and intensify the flavour beautifully. -
Serve
Fill glasses with ice. Pour sangria over and top with a splash of sparkling water. -
Garnish
Add an extra dehydrated citrus slice on top for that elegant YUMi look.
